Professor Federico Rosei is named the ASM Canada Council M. Brian Ives Lecturer

Professor Federico Rosei, Director of the INRS Centre Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications, has been named the 2013–2014 ASM Canada Council M. Brian Ives Lecturer in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of materials in Canada.

In conjunction with this award, Federico Rosei, who is internationally recognized for his innovative work in nanosciences and holds the Canada Research Chair in nanostructured organic and inorganic materials, will have the opportunity to visit all eight Canada Council chapters of ASM International and share state-of-the-art technical knowledge with ASM Canada members.

The ASM Canada Council Brian Ives Lectureship award underscores the scientific and technological scope of Professor Rosei’s work on nanomaterials, which has already brought him numerous honours. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Institute of Physics, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Institute of Nanotechnology and the Australian Institute of Physics. In addition to these honours, he was the recipient of the 2013 Herzberg Medal from the Canadian Association of Physics, the 2011 Rutherford Memorial Medal in Chemistry from the Royal Society of Canadaand the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s 2010 Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award, among others. Federico Rosei is also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and of the Society of Photo-Image Engineers (SPIE), and a member of the Sigma XI Society and of the Global Young Academy.
