A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the research group of Associate Prof. Frédéric Veyrier at the INRS Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Centre (AFSB) in Laval (Greater Montreal, Canada) to work on a joint research project with the group of Dr. Calmettes and Dr. Doucet (also at INRS). For this position, we are looking for a talented, highly skilled, and motivated postdoc with a proven track record in the areas of structural biology and protein biochemistry. The successful candidate is expected to dissect the structure and function of a newly discovered protein which acts on the bacterial DNA (unpublished) and that has already proven a role in bacterial physiology and virulence, using a combination of X-ray crystallography, in silico approaches, and biochemical techniques.
The applicant must have a PhD or expertise in structural biology. Preference will be given to a candidate available immediately with skills in protein expression and purification, and with a solid knowledge in protein characterization and biophysical methods. The applicant will be an enthusiastic scientist who demonstrates excellence, creativity, commitment to research, and effective communication skills. The AFSB offers a French/English bilingual environment.
Applicants must have completed their PhD degrees within the last 4 years. The position is funded for two years with possibility of extension based on performance. The salary range for the position is $CAD 50,000 to $CAD 60,000 per year.
