<a href=\"https:\/\/inrs.ca\/en\/research\/professors\/jasmin-raymond\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jasmin Raymond<\/a>, an internationally recognized expert in geothermics and heat transfer processes. His work combines cutting edge numerical modelling, thermohydraulic property analysis, and fieldwork to better understand how geological systems can provide reliable and sustainable energy solutions. In this context, green technologies play a key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions while Earth sciences provide the critical knowledge required to design cleaner, more resilient energy systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sustainable geoenergy systems\u2014whether naturally occurring or engineered\u2014draw on geological reservoirs to meet energy needs while safeguarding the environment. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>geothermal<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>systems<\/strong>&nbsp;used&nbsp;for&nbsp;heating,&nbsp;cooling, and&nbsp;electrical&nbsp;power&nbsp;generation&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>underground&nbsp;reservoirs&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>green&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>hydrogen<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>storage<\/strong>&nbsp;to help&nbsp;stabilize&nbsp;energy&nbsp;grids&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>natural<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>hydrogen<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;system<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong>&nbsp;an&nbsp;emerging&nbsp;resource&nbsp;with&nbsp;significant&nbsp;potential&nbsp;requiring&nbsp;new exploration&nbsp;strategies&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chair&nbsp;seeks&nbsp;to deepen understanding of fluid flow&nbsp;and&nbsp;heat transfer&nbsp;within geological medium&nbsp;to better predict the performance of these systems and support the development of low\u2011carbon energy solutions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-border-color has-darker-border-color is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2973ebda wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-width:1px;margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-objectives\">Objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;work&nbsp;integrates&nbsp;numerical&nbsp;modelling,&nbsp;geological&nbsp;characterization, and experimentation conducted in natural laboratories of remote communities. The team uses advanced scanning techniques to analyze the hydraulic and thermal properties of rocks.
