The new R\u00e9seau CommunAut\u00e9s Rurales et \u00c9loign\u00e9es en Sant\u00e9 (CARES) will be led by INRS professor Cathy Vaillancourt<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Professor Cathy Vaillancourt<\/a> from the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) will lead the new R\u00e9seau CommunAut\u00e9s Rurales et \u00c9loign\u00e9es en Sant\u00e9<\/a> (CARES), whose mission is to support communities\u2019 well-being by improving health, care, and social services and preventing illness in Quebec\u2019s rural and remote areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CARES network is one of 15 thematic networks that will share a total of $11.5\u00a0million granted by the FRQS, in partnership with the Minist\u00e8re de la Sant\u00e9 et des Services Sociaux<\/a>. As part of the FRQS thematic network competition<\/a> (2024\u20132032), the network will benefit from $4\u00a0million over 8\u00a0years, with the option to renew until 2032.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CARES, an initiative of the Regroupement intersectoriel de recherche en sant\u00e9 de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec<\/a> (RISUQ), is the only network that will ensure an ongoing presence in all of Quebec\u2019s rural and remote regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs soon as you start talking to people on the ground, you see that the need in rural areas is desperate and very real. Health initiatives tailored to rural areas<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The CARES team\u2019s program includes the implementation of research, training, and scientific activity approaches anchored in partnerships with community, clinical, and practice environments (such as care, rehabilitation, and mental health facilities). This means that prevention and health promotion, and the management of care conditions to promote sustainable health, will be crucial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
