The theme this year was \u201cRaconte-moi le territoire&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;Tipatshimushtu ne nutshimit\u201d (\u201cTell me about the land\u201d). The event, which took place from June&nbsp;16 to 21 at Shipit on the territory of the Innu First Nation of Uashat mak Mani-utenam, ended with a celebration to mark National Indigenous Peoples\u2019 Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Universit\u00e9 Nomade is run by the R\u00e9seau DIALOG, an organization based at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS). This event is the result of an ongoing collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itum.qc.ca\/\">ITUM<\/a> (Innu takuaikan Uashat Mani-utenam) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uqat.ca\/en\/\">Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec en Abitibi-T\u00e9miscamingue<\/a> (UQAT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event\u2019s interactive, participatory structure promotes the sharing of Indigenous and academic knowledge around societal issues. Each year, activities bring together researchers, students, specialists from different backgrounds, leaders, and Indigenous knowledge holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students accounted for more than half of the attendees; they were accompanied by Professor Carole L\u00e9vesque, head of the R\u00e9seau DIALOG; INRS professor <a href=\"https:\/\/inrs.ca\/en\/research\/professors\/nancy-wiscutie-crepeau\/\">Nancy Wiscutie-Cr\u00e9peau<\/a>; and UQAT professor <a href=\"https:\/\/prof.uqat.ca\/sebastien-brodeur-girard\/presentation\/\">S\u00e9bastien Brodeur-Girard<\/a>. The formula remains unique as it favors the encounter of different knowledge systems and strives to create conditions conducive to sharing and active reconciliation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite><strong>Carole L\u00e9vesque<\/strong>, Professor at INRS<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The Universit\u00e9 Nomade is much more than just an academic event; it&#8217;s a profound human experience that strengthens intergenerational ties. The elders pass on lessons to the students as well as to us. It&#8217;s a privilege for me to be part of it.<\/p>\n<cite><strong>Heidi Vachon<\/strong>, Associate Director, Development and Research, ITUM Education Sector<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-thinking-driven-by-teaching-and-knowledge-sharing\">Thinking driven by teaching and knowledge sharing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this latest edition of the Universit\u00e9 Nomade, Innu elders from Uashat mak Mani-utenam, Unamen-Shipu and Lac-John came to speak with the participants. These voices of ancestral knowledge were heard all week long inside the <em>shaputuan<\/em>\u2014a large traditional Indigenous tent\u2014that was set up specially for the event. I\u2019m still learning from the men and women who have worked tirelessly and courageously to keep our traditions alive. It&#8217;s a privileged moment for exchange with the latter as well as with people of all ages. It&#8217;s very inspiring!&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite><strong>S\u00e9bastien Brodeur-Girard,<\/strong> professor at UQAT.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-about-the-universite-nomade\">About the Universit\u00e9 Nomade<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Universit\u00e9 Nomade training program was set up in 2007 by the R\u00e9seau DALOG to unite scientific and Indigenous knowledge.
