Her story reflects the scientific rigour, curiosity, and social engagement that are driving the next generation of INRS-trained researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n    \n<div class=\"wp-block full-width-image \">\n    <div class=\"image-ctn\">\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/inrs.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/INRS_Oceane_Hourtane_2025_4-web.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n    <\/div>\n    <p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">At the <strong>Eau Terre Environnement Research Centre<\/strong>, Oc\u00e9ane has brought her focus to bear on understanding the <strong>behaviour of emerging metals<\/strong> such as gallium, lanthanum, and platinum\u2014elements widely used in modern technologies and sourced from the environment. By generating <strong>new data<\/strong> and developing <strong>innovative methodological tools<\/strong>, her research helps to better assess the risks that these metals can pose for aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The French-born Hourtan\u00e9 found at INRS a collaborative and decompartmentalized scientific environment conducive to applied research. \u201cHere, autonomy and interdisciplinarity are encouraged. <strong>Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Environnement, la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP)<\/strong>.
