Solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric and biogas. These green energies are sustainable solutions to replace fossil fuels. But they still need to be harnessed properly.
Research conducted at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) is attempting to increase the efficiency of such energy sources and reach their full potential. Some teams are turning to the earth’s underground, through geothermal energy. Others are looking to the sky, by developing efficient solar photon sensors. This same light also serves as a source for yet another energy: green hydrogen!
However, to go from creation to use, green energy must be adequately stored and solutions to efficient storage must be found. Research on new generations of batteries for electric cars is a good example.
