We teach the next generation of researchers to develop scientific, social, and technological innovations.
We find solutions through interdisciplinary research and industry or public and community partnerships.
We play an active role in Québec's economic, social, and cultural development.
Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) is home to state-of-the-art facilities offering outstanding analytical, processing, and fabrication capabilities for top-level basic and applied research in a multitude of strategic sectors.
Unique in Canada, many of these research facilities, some of which are very large, enjoy an international reputation. All boast sophisticated equipment that enables INRS research teams to innovate and test the technologies they develop. Many of our labs provide technical services to the INRS community and to research and business partners.
These facilities allow our researchers to be at the forefront of research in areas such as coastal erosion, doping control in sports, sustainable energy, ultra-powerful lasers, waste conversion, and pollution exposure in certain population groups.
Financial support to equip and upgrade INRS laboratories comes from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, the Government of Canada, the Government of Quebec, Fonds de recherche du Québec, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
