Joyce Echaquan Scholarship

This scholarship, financed partially by the Fonds de recherche du Québec, shall be awarded on a competitive basis to an Indigenous woman who wants to pursue graduate studies (masterʼs degree) and whose activities focus on the call for action and engagement in Joyceʼs Principle as presented in November 2020 by the Atikamekw Council of Manawan and the Atikamekw Nation Council. Joyce Echaquanʼs family has expressed their support to this initiative.

Duration

2 years ($18 000/year)

Eligibility

Be registred as a graduate student at UQAT or INRS for the Fall 2024.

Instructions for submission of application

  • Submit a letter of intent and CV;
  • Provide a summary of the research project (5 pages max.), including presentation of the conceptual and methodological framework, a workplan, and a schedule;
  • Include two letters of recommendation;
  • Include transcripts of completed university studies.

Evaluation criteria

  • Relevance of the project;
  • Quality of academic record;
  • Clarity and feasibility of the workplan;
  • COmpliance with ethical guidelines in place;
  • Anticipated impacts for Indigenous Peoples.

Due date and submission of file

The completed file must be submitted to the DIALOG Network: reseaudialog@inrs.ca by june 30, 2024.

An evaluation committee of three (3) people, including an Indigenous elder, shall evaluate applicant files.
