Project description
If you are interested in an opportunity to join our research activities on photocatalysis for waste-water remediation and hydrogen production, we are offering 2 internship opportunities. Photocatalysis, in a nutshell, is the use of materials to assist in the conversion of solar energy into chemical energy for reactions that do not occur spontaneously. While most research groups operate under the assumption that the critical step is the light-induced charge transport, a comparison to photovoltaics, where solar energy is converted to electricity shows that the rate limiting step lies in the mass transport of chemicals to and from the surface of the catalyst. Based on our group’s scientific background in solid state physics, we therefore target a variety of mechanisms that allow for faster mass transport1.
