Emergency Procedures

On this page, you’ll find the INRS’s single contact number and the essential emergency numbers to use in case of an emergency.

If your life or the life of another person is in danger:

  1. Dial 911 first for police, fire, or ambulance assistance.
  2. Notify the emergency response team by calling 4477 or 1 855 888-4477 of the situation so that it can initiate the safety procedures in effect.

Life-threatening

One number for immediate assistance

Whether you are in Quebec City, Laval, Montreal, or Varennes, dial extension #4477 (INRS landlines) or 1-855-888-4477 to notify your centre’s responders of the situation.

Why a single number?

Starting on April 17, 2023 in all INRS centres, the single emergency phone number for emergency procedures make it easier to call for help and allow INRS to better manage evacuations or other actions for the safety of all.
