June 11, 2024

Update : June 11, 2024

A dozen contestants gathered at the Research Center located at the heart of Québec City.

The Eastern Canada regional final of the Three Minutes Thesis (3MT) competition was held on June 7 at INRS for the very first time, bringing together contestants from 13 Canadian universities.

The event was organized by the INRS Graduate Studies and Student Success Service with the support of the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS).

Each year, this competition invites master and doctoral students to give a concise presentation of their research project to a lay audience in just three minutes, in English.

PhD student Mostafa Shagar represented INRS for the event. As a student in energy and materials sciences, Mostafa Shagar is working under the supervision of Professor Emanuele Orgiu, in collaboration with Professor Luca Razzari.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to compete, I would like to primarily thank INRS as well as my supervisors for their continued support. Science communication is something very dear to me and lies at the heart of doing science in the first place. If we are unable to properly disseminate the information we gain then there is no use in gaining that information at all.”
