The influence of our faculty and students extends around the world. In partnership with the community as well as the industry, we are proud to contribute to the development of society through our discoveries and through the training we provide to a new generation of scientific, social, and technological innovators.

The INRS and its Centre Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie (AFSB) research center wish to recruit a professor in the field of population genetics for the joint research unit (UMR) created in partnership with l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC). The person sought will have expertise in population genetics with more specific (but not limited to) interests in epidemiology, including studies on First Nations and Inuit populations, genetic epidemiology, statistics applied to health (biostatistics), as well as genetic analysis from metadata such as the BALSAC population file and the biobanks available at UQAC. Whether the research is applied or fundamental, based on modeling or the development of innovative approaches, the results should have a high potential for knowledge transfer. In this sense, the person sought should be able to establish an autonomous, competitive and innovative funding program (grants and sponsorships), and to teach in the various graduate programs.

  • Ensure funding of research activities by obtaining external grants from public and private organizations, or in partnership with the private sector;
  • Participate in teaching and training activities, particularly in the graduate programs, as well as in the supervision of postdoctoral fellows and research staff.

Requirements

  • Have an excellent record of research accomplishments that will allow the successful development of a strong and independent research program;
  • Possess research and academic expertise that is complementary to the AFSB Center INRS | Research Themes: Finding sustainable and innovative solutions and relevant to the research objectives of the new UMR created in partnership with UQAC;
