Context and summary

In the context of the newly created Infectiopôle, the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS)- Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Centre (AFSB) invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in the field of immunology. Applicants will be expected to have cutting-edge expertise, preferentially but not exclusively, in the study of infectious or chronic inflammatory diseases, tumor immunity, or immunometabolism. The successful candidate is expected to build and maintain a recognized, innovative, and extramurally funded research program and to teach in the Centre AFSB graduate programs.

Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) is the only institution in Quebec exclusively dedicated to research and to graduate level studies.

The AFSB Centre provides freshly renovated lab spaces and access to core facilities, including confocal microscopy and flow cytometry, electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, as well as a biosafety level 3 facility. The Centre AFSB campus also hosts the INRS Laboratoire national de biologie expérimentale (LNBE), a state-of-the-art animal facility, offering care and housing for multiple animal species.

The collegial work environment at the AFSB Centre comprises fifty professors, conducting research and providing advanced training in the areas of infection and immunity, impact of environment and genetics on disease development, discovery of therapeutic and prophylactic agents, and microbial biotechnology.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Develop an original and innovative research program;
  • Develop and maintain internal and external collaborations;
  • Secure external funding;
  • Participate in teaching and training activities.

Requirements

  • Hold a doctorate in a related biomedical field and have relevant postdoctoral research experience;
  • Have an excellent record of research achievements;
  • Possess technical and academic expertise that complements the research activities at Centre AFSB (https://inrs.ca/en/research/research-themes/infection-and-immunity/);
  • Possess abilities for research, multidisciplinary teaching and mentoring of graduate students;
  • Demonstrate a strong potential to secure research funding from granting agencies.

Working language

French is the working language of the Institute. Fluency in English is required.
Candidates whose native language is not French are encouraged to apply. The Centre will provide them with all the resources necessary to facilitate their learning of the French language.

In accordance with the collective agreement in effect at INRS.
