Update : October 18, 2024

INRS is looking forward to welcoming Amélie Forget this month as head of the new Ruralités Durables Research Centre in Charlevoix.

Amélie Forget will begin her new position as head of the new Centre Ruralités durables en Charlevoix on October 28.

Known for her ability to bring people together, Amélie Forget has demonstrated her skill at managing complex projects. As a Charlevoix resident, her extensive knowledge of the region will help mobilize local networks to establish and integrate the centre.

Amélie Forget holds a Ph.D. in political science from the Université de Montréal. After her doctoral studies, she began her professional career as a postdoctoral researcher with the Department of Government at Cornell University in the United States.

Her career path has bridged the spheres of academic research and post-secondary education and operations management and leadership.

Since 2023, Ms. Forget has overseen the design, planning, funding solicitation, and launch of the Réseau de prévention des crises en santé (Réseau PRÉCRISA), assembling a top-notch scientific management team with over 100 members and 60 partners across the province.

In 2020, her expertise was sought out to create the Réseau québécois COVID-Pandémie (RQCP) established by the Fonds de recherche du Québec at the beginning of the pandemic.

Amélie Forget’s remarkable experience in infrastructure development will serve her well as implementation director of the Ruralités Durables Research Centre. Her appointment marks a crucial step in the development of this major project for the province.

The project’s next steps will include recruiting faculty, developing the Centre’s scientific curriculum, and determining what spaces are required. To do so, INRS has already obtained $2 million in recurrent annual funding from the Government of Québec.
