Guillaume Côté, a member of the Board of Directors of the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) since 2023, has just been appointed CEO of the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Québec (CRIAQ).

During his more than two decades in the aerospace, innovation, and technology fields, Guillaume Côté has worked for key organizations in his industry and within the federal government.

His expertise will directly support the organization’s mission to stimulate collaborative R&D in the industry. “CRIAQ is an innovation facilitator: it helps weave academic and industrial aerospace research together,” explains Côté. “It really is a dialogue with the ecosystem.”

CRIAQ has over 160 members across the province, including large companies, SMEs, start-ups, and academic research organizations.

Interesting the next generation

Guillaume Côté obtained a doctorate in geography and planning from the Université Toulouse-Jean-Jaurès in 2007, in conjunction with his Ph.D. in urban studies from INRS. He will stay closely connected to the research and education spheres, which he believes are essential in a constantly evolving field. “Passion is the key: while people are in school, while they’re doing their first internships, we need to light that spark for the next generation,” he declares. To that end, CRIAQ awards several scholarships each year, including the Scholarships for the Next Generation of Women in Aerospace for graduate students.

Guillaume Côté was also one of the co-founding members of the first Board of Directors of the INRS Foundation, alongside CEO Luc-Alain Giraldeau. The new foundation hopes to allow INRS to foster a strong bond with its graduates by creating a sense of pride and belonging.

“I believe that INRS has a major impact on scientific research in Quebec and Canada. It deserves to be known for its true worth. Being involved as a director is a way for me to contribute and give back to the organization, but also to form and maintain relationships with the graduates.”
