Description
Prof. Tarek Rouissi and Prof. Louis-César Pasquier at the INRS Eau Terre Environnement Research Centre are seeking a new Ph.D. student to join their team and investigate the enzymatic biodegradation of sulfur-containing atmospheric contaminants. The selected candidate will explore potential remediation strategies, building on the team’s recent advances to develop large-scale, practical solutions (enzymatic reactors) aimed at mitigating sulfur compound emissions from landfill sites.

Funding

Required qualifications
We are seeking outstanding, enthusiastic candidates holding a master’s degree in biotechnology engineering, microbiology, bioprocess engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field with basic knowledge in chemistry.
Candidates who are in the process of completing their master’s degree are also encouraged to apply. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will demonstrate passion and creativity and thrive in a collaborative environment. The selected candidate must show strong skills in research planning, experimental design, scientific writing and publishing, as well as rigor, perseverance, and excellent communication and writing skills.
Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset. However, to overcome language barriers and promote the inclusion of non-French-speaking students, free French courses are offered to facilitate the integration of the Ph.D. student into the INRS and Québec communities.
