The Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) is an active academic player in Indigenous issues thanks to its research and training programs.
Education, self-determination, urbanity, languages, cultures, territories: over the years, INRS has developed extensive expertise through research projects by, for, and with Indigenous peoples.
INRS’s interdisciplinary nature allows it to offer a decompartmentalized structure, which is essential for furthering humanities and social research into these crucial issues.
Its joint research unit in Indigenous studies, run jointly with the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, fosters dialogue and knowledge-sharing between communities and trains a new generation of scientists dedicated to these issues in the region.
