International mobility scholarships for short stays outside of the province of Quebec 

Overview 

The educational stay or event can take place in another Canadian province or in another country. It may include: 

  • Student exchange programs 
  • Practical internships 
  • Research internships 
  • Seminars 
  • Conferences 

Two academic sessions totaling a maximum of eight months are eligible. 

Level 

Master’s and PhD 

Amount 

  • 100$ per day, for a maximum of 8 months.

Eligibility 

  • Must be enrolled full-time in a program at INRS; 
  • Must demonstrate that the activity is relevant to their academic training;
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.3;
  • Must have completed at least 9 credits in their program at INRS before the start of the study period abroad;
  • Be duly registered at INRS before the mobility stay, notably to avoid immigration issues. 
  • Not carry out the stay in their country of origin and/or citizenship. 
  • Not be a recipient of a Mitacs Globalink scholarship, a Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement, or any other short-term international mobility grant for the same research stay. 
  • Not be enrolled in a double degree or cotutelle program. 
  • Not have received a mobility grant from the International Office or the SESRE within the same academic year (May 1 to April 30). 

Application Deadline 

Any time. There is no application deadline, as the competition is open year-round. The number of scholarships awarded will therefore depend on the available budget. 

Selection Committee 

Upon receipt of an eligible application, a scholarship selection committee is formed. The committee consists of the Director of the relevant study program, and the International Office Research Officer. This committee will decide on the awarding of scholarships. 

Application Submission 

Students must complete the application form by selecting “International mobility scholarships for short stays outside of the province of Quebec” and taking into account the following requirements:

  • The applicant must provide, in the designated section, a detailed description of the activity they wish to pursue outside Québec, including: 
  • A description and justification of the relevance of the activity 
  • The period during which the activity will take place 
  • The applicant must attach the following documents to the application form: 
  • An academic transcript 
  • A letter from the host institution confirming the dates of the study stay 
  • Once the form has been completed, an electronic copy will be sent to the applicant for signature collection. 
  • The signatures of the research supervisor and the program director confirming approval of the activity are mandatory 
    (If the program director also serves as the applicant’s research supervisor, the form must be signed instead by the center director.) 
  • The applicant must sign the form and send it to international@inrs.ca
