Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) has announced the appointment of Annick Girard as Deputy Scientific Director. She will take up her post on March 31.
This appointment is significant for INRS. Thanks to her experience in higher education and academic management, Ms. Girard will make a valuable contribution to the organization’s scientific and institutional mission. “With her political acumen, responsiveness, intellectual rigour, and creative, multidisciplinary approach, she will help implement the strategic objectives of our scientific management in line with the team’s collaborative vision,” said Isabelle Delisle, scientific director of INRS.
Ms. Girard will support our scientific management team in all mandates to develop and support the INRS research and training community. She will play a central role in the development and implementation of our institutional scientific program while helping to position INRS and consolidate strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the impact and visibility of INRS in the scientific ecosystem.
With a doctorate in semiology from UQÀM, Annick Girard joined the faculty of Royal Military College Saint-Jean in 1997. There, she held several management positions, including dean of education and acting director of studies. Her career path attests to her solid skills in university governance, program development, and strategic management. She has overseen major projects related to university recognition and institutional compliance.
Throughout her career, Ms. Girard has shown exceptional commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, as well as an ability to mobilize teams around common goals. Her arrival at INRS marks a milestone and helps strengthen our commitment to research and training excellence.
