INRS, a socially and environmentally responsible institution en plan

October 14, 2025

Update : October 14, 2025

With the adoption of its 2025-2030 action plans for sustainable development and for equity, diversity and inclusion, INRS reaffirms its commitment to promoting a more inclusive university and a sustainable future.

In line with its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, these INRS action plans are a continuation of the efforts undertaken in recent years, while also addressing concerns raised by the INRS community.

INRS, a driver of innovation and a vector for transformation

In response to the triple planetary crisis (climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution) currently unfolding, the 2025-2030 Action Plan for Sustainable Development reflects INRS’s collective desire to pair scientific excellence with social responsibility.

Three strategic areas of focus in sustainable development

Manage resources to improve our environmental and social footprint

Manage activities to reduce our climate and ecological footprint

Create campuses that are green, vibrant, inclusive and resilient

Scientific excellence cannot be achieved without including all voices

The 2025-2030 Action Plan for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion aims to promote a research, study and work environment where everyone can thrive. Through this initiative, INRS reaffirms its conviction that scientific excellence cannot be achieved without fully recognizing and promoting a diversity of talents and perspectives.

Three strategic areas of focus in equity, diversity and inclusion

Remove barriers to admission, hiring and career or academic advancement for equity-seeking groups

Support the well-being and fulfilment  of INRS members by paying special attention to people from equity-seeking groups

Uphold a zero-tolerance approach to improper conduct

Guides toward a more responsible university

A total of 164 actions were developed and prioritized in collaboration with the university community. Each action is led by an administrative unit responsible for its implementation, making the action plans true cross-cutting levers that will serve to guide our institution.

“INRS draws on the transformative power of research and training to generate positive and lasting benefits for society. These actions are the fruit of rigorous work rooted in active listening, cooperation and analysis, and they reflect our community’s wealth of knowledge and experience and its capacity to mobilize around a shared vision, that of a research institution that acts with consistency, ambition and solidarity.”
