Professor Shuhui Sun Joins the Royal Society of Canada

This major award honours the clean energy specialist’s remarkable career.

Professor Shuhui Sun of the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) has been officially named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC), which brings together the country’s most eminent researchers.

This internationally renowned clean energy expert, who has been attached to INRS’s Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications Research Centre since 2012, has made outstanding contributions to his field throughout his career.

In particular, Professor Sun has provided concrete solutions to critical challenges in his sector, including green hydrogen production, hydrogen fuel cells, and safe, high-energy, long-life batteries.

In addition to his scientific work, Professor Sun is executive editor-in-chief and member of the editorial board of more than ten international scientific journals. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Fellowship in the Royal Society of Canada is the country’s highest distinction for the arts, sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Professor Sun, who will join the Society’s Academy of Science, was selected by his peers alongside 104 others.

The Royal Society of Canada will officially induct the new fellows in November 2024 at the Celebration of Excellence and Engagement in Vancouver, British Columbia.
