Postdoctoral Fellowship : Bioorganometallic Chemistry

  • Postdoctoral Fellowship

Project description

For candidates with a background in organometallic chemistry

This interdisciplinary metals in medicine project aims at the design of organometallic complexes and the study of their potential as catalysts and therapeutic agents.

The project consists in:

  1. the synthesis and the characterization of various organic, inorganic or organometallic complexes under inert atmosphere using glovebox and Schlenk techniques,
  2. their characterization using tools such as nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry and single crystal X-ray diffraction, as well as
  3. the evaluation of their reactivity in biological settings.

More details about the project will be discussed with the candidates who will be selected for an interview.

  • Hold a PhD degree in CHEMISTRY (or equivalent);
  • Ability to supervise students of all levels;
  • Be open to collaborating with an interdisciplinary team;
  • Participate in the writing of scientific articles;
  • Present his or her results in the form of oral and poster presentations, as well as reports.

Applicants with knowledge or experience in some or all of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Inorganic/organometallic synthetic chemistry (ability to work under inert atmosphere would be an asset);
  • Metals in medicine;
  • Organometallic catalysis;
  • Cell culture;
  • Purification of compounds using various chromatographic methods;
  • Characterization of compounds using nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry and single crystal X-ray diffraction;
  • Considerable knowledge of the English language (spoken and written).

Financial support

INRS offers financial support to its postdoctoral trainees. They are also encouraged to apply for external funding.

How to apply

Interested candidates can submit their application using the online form. The latter will be evaluated by Prof. Annie Castonguay. Please include:
