Update : October 7, 2025

Panelists explored how artificial intelligence can help support and transform higher education.

The Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) was pleased to act as host and organizer of the Strategic Leaders Global Summit, the Council of Graduate Schools’ annual conference, which was held in the city of Québec from September 28 to 30, 2025.

The 17th edition of the congress focused on a pressing issue in higher education: the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in universities. This highly anticipated event was sponsored by the Council of Graduate Schools, the Consulat général de France à Québec, the Fonds de recherche du Québec and the Université du Québec

At the conclusion of the conference, a document on principles and actions, jointly created by the attendees, was made public. This legacy document will serve as a point of reference for future reflections in higher education.

The summit brought together numerous university leaders, representatives of political authorities, and senior administrators. These influential stakeholders were welcomed to INRS by Philippe-Edwin Bélanger, Director of the Service des études supérieures et de la réussite étudiante (SESRE – Graduate Studies and Student Success Office).

The event brought together more than 50 participants, including Céline Poncelin de Raucourt, Vice-President, Teaching and Research, Université du Québec; Chevelle Newsome, President of the Council of Graduate Schools; and Éric Lamouroux, Consul General of France in Quebec.
