Context and summary
In the context of the newly created Infectiopole (https://infectiopole.inrs.ca), the Centre Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie (AFSB) of the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the field of host-pathogen interactions. A particular attention will be given to applicants in the area of virology.
We are seeking candidates with a strong expertise, notably in omics and bio-imaging, to study (re-)emerging, vector-borne, and/or neglected infectious diseases. The successful candidate is expected to build and maintain an independent, innovative, and externally funded research program and to teach in the Centre AFSB graduate programs.
INRS is the only institution in Quebec dedicated exclusively to research and to graduate levels studies. The Centre AFSB provides recently renovated lab space and access to core facilities, including a biosafety level 3 laboratory, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry, electron microscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance. The Centre also has close ties to the Laboratoire national de biologie expérimentale, a facility dedicated to animal research under various biocontainment levels.
The collegial work environment at the Centre AFSB comprises around fifty faculty members, conducting research and providing advanced training in the areas of infection and immunity, impact of environment and heredity on disease development, discovery of therapeutics and prophylactics, and microbial biotechnology.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Establish an independent and innovative research program;
- Develop and maintain internal and external collaborations;
- Secure external funding;
- Participate in teaching and training activities.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in a related biomedical field and a relevant postdoctoral experience;
- Excellent research achievements;
- Technical and academic expertise that complements the research activities at Centre AFSB (https://inrs.ca/en/research/research-themes/infection-and-immunity);
- Strong potential to obtain funding from granting agencies;
- Aptitude for teaching and mentoring graduate students.
Working language
French is the work language of the Institute. Fluency in English is required.
Candidates whose native language is not French are encouraged to apply. The selected candidate will be invited to improve his/her French knowledge during the first contract period (three years, renewable after evaluation). The Centre will provide them all the resources necessary to facilitate their learning of French

Salary
In accordance with the collective agreement in effect at INRS.
