A brand speaks with a collective voice. Presenting this voice in a coherent, consistent way contributes to the reputation of Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS).
THE INRS IMAGE: Bold. Unique. Innovative. Committed. Inspired. Interdisciplinary. High-performance. Collaborative.
Consult the Graphic Standards Guide to ensure that your INRS visual identity is properly communicated.
The INRS visual identity toolbox gives you access to our logo, our fonts and the official color palette.
The INRS logo is the official symbol of our institution. It must appear on all official, promotional, and information documents, in both print and digital form. The logo is made up of two inseparable elements: the symbol created from the letters I, N, R and S, and the typographic signature.
The primary color of the logo is INRS Blue (Pantone® 2768C). It is intended for use on pale backgrounds and lighter images to maintain legibility. This is the most commonly used version of the logo. The white logo can be used on an INRS Blue background. Monochrome (black and white) and reverse (dark background) versions are also available. Contact the Communications and Public Affairs Department by email to obtain the vector logo (AI or EPS).
For the Web
For print
A legible logo helps ensure fast recognition of the institution. If the space available for the logo is limited (e.g., promotional item, website), you may want to use the alternate version, which is available on the intranet in the Toolbox / Visual identity and templates section.
Minimum size
To ensure the highest reproduction quality in both conventional print and electronic media, minimum dimensions have been established. To preserve legibility, the logo should never be used in a size smaller than 0.75” (19.05 mm) in width.
Protection zone
The protection area is the minimum safety zone required on all sides of the logo. This space, which must remain clear, isolates the logo from all other elements, giving it greater visibility.
This rule applies in all circumstances, regardless of the type of use, medium, format, or version used.
The minimum space required is equivalent to the letter “R” in the “INRS” symbol. This space is projected all around the logo (including the typographic signature) to form a protective zone (represented by the pink frame).
Correct use
Incorrect use
It is important to respect the principles of the logo. Alterations are strictly prohibited. Do not, under any circumstances, use the logo in the ways shown in the examples opposite.
Use only files supplied by the Communications and Public Affairs Department.
League Gothic (download compressed file) is INRS’s main typeface. It emphasizes information and ensures maximum legibility. It is used in all our products, whether printed or digital.
League Gothic Semi Condensed should be used for all capital letters in titles, and Regular for highlights and large text.
Metropolis (download compressed file) is INRS’s secondary typeface. Metropolis Medium is used for all body text. Bold is used for subheadings.
To share Microsoft Office documents (e.g., Word or PowerPoint files) with people who don’t have the League Gothic or Metropolis font families, use the substitute fonts Impact and Arial.
However, if you prefer to keep the brand typeface, and the documents don’t need to be modified by the recipient, they can be shared in PDF format.
Blue is an integral part of the INRS identity. It is the main color to be used in printed and electronic communication tools. It can be combined with secondary colors to suit different themes.
Pantone® colors are preferred when printing monochrome and two-color (spot colors) publications.
When color printing (four-color process) is used, CMYK mixing is applied. RGB values are for on-screen display only and HEX values are for web design.
A secondary palette of dynamic, contrasting colors is ideal for high-impact communications and for identifying different themes. These colors should be used first and foremost with INRS blue for greater brand recognition. It is understood that with consistent use of all brand elements, secondary colors will become strong enough to be used independently.
