The World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, celebrated from November 18 to 24, is an opportunity to discover the expertise of INRS in this field of research.
Antimicrobial resistance is a natural phenomenon, but it is exacerbated by excessive or inappropriate drug use.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is concerned about the phenomenon of drug resistance, accelerated by excessive consumption of antibiotics. The World Antimicrobial Awareness Week aims to raise awareness of the phenomenon of drug resistance, which is affecting people around the world.
Several research teams at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) are working on various strains of bacteria, as well as viruses and parasites, which require treatment including antibiotics. Researchers must also find alternative solutions to fight these pathogens that become resistant to conventional treatment.
