Project description
This project will mainly focus on caracterizing the ecotoxicological risks associated with extracting critical minerals in the North. In particular, we are interested in exploring the fate and effects of cobalt, copper, lithium, nickel and zinc on algae and aquatic invertebrates.
This project will be done in collaboration with Dr. Tamzin Blewett (University of Alberta) and Dr. Erin Leonard (Wilfrid Laurier University). Research activities will involve trips to the Canadian High Arctic Research Station (CHARS) in collaboration with Polar Knowledge Canada (POLAR). Additional trips to other northern regions or to collaborative universities may also occur.
