We teach the next generation of researchers to develop scientific, social, and technological innovations.
We find solutions through interdisciplinary research and industry or public and community partnerships.
We play an active role in Québec's economic, social, and cultural development.
Having a child is a happy event, but being a parent and studying at the same time isn’t always easy! Fulfilling as it may be, having a child while in school can lead to financial, time management, and integration issues.
In-house support available
Are you expecting to become a parent and have questions about what to expect? Are you a student parent facing challenges balancing your roles?
There’s a lot to consider: academic career, immigration rules, insurance, finances, school-life balance, availability of childcare, and more.
Before making any decisions, please take the time to notify our service team by filling out the form below. The social worker, a member of the Graduate Studies and Student Success Service (GSSSS) team, will meet with you confidentially to provide you with information and support if required.
The Graduate Studies and Student Success Service (GSSSS) and the Human Resources Department have joined forces to improve conditions for students and contract employees. The resulting initiative is a major step forward: INRS is the first university to offer a financial support program for students to enable them to take parental leave.
If you have received an INRS scholarship, visit the Financial Support During Parental Leave program page.
If you have received an external scholarship or grant, please note that the Fonds de recherche du Québec and the federal granting agencies also have parental leave measures.
