Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) is dedicated exclusively to graduate level research and training. Since its creation in 1969, the institute has built its success on interdisciplinarity, innovation, and excellence.

INRS is made up of four thematic and interdisciplinary research and training centres in Quebec City, Montreal, Laval, and Varennes: Eau Terre Environnement Research Centre, Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications Research Centre, Urbanisation Culture Société Research Centre, Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Centre.
