It is one of the most prestigious awards available to students at Canadian universities. Through this award, the Governor General of Canada encourages academic excellence across the country and recognizes outstanding students.

Convocation is an opportunity to present awards to graduates who have distinguished themselves throught their academic performance, achievements, or scientific contributions in the course of their graduate studies.
This award recognizes the exceptional leadership of a student who has distinguished himself or herself through involvement in student life, volunteer work or the organization of a scientific event.
This award recognizes a student’s contribution to the international influence of INRS through participation in international conferences or for winning an award for best presentation at an international conference.
This award recognizes a student who has contributed to the creation of a patent, the creation of a company, as well as the transfer of technology, knowledge and skills to the user community.
Each INRS research and training center awards an annual prize for the best master’s thesis and the best doctoral thesis. These awards are presented by the INRS Foundation.
This distinction is awarded by the Scientific Direction and is reserved for graduates of a program:
Firestarter, Trailblazer, and Starbust: the INRS Foundation Lumières awards highlight outstanding graduates who shine a spotlight on the importance of science in society and the outstanding research and training activities at INRS.
