Intérêts de recherche
Les travaux de recherche du professeur My Ali El Khakani portent sur l’étude de la croissance, l’assemblage et les propriétés des matériaux nanostructurés (incluant les nanotubes, les nanoparticules et les couches ultraminces). Il s’intéresse au développement de nouveaux procédés pour la synthèse de ces nanomatériaux en mettant à profit son expertise dans le domaine des plasmas froids (ablation laser, pulvérisation RF ou DC, PECVD) ou encore par d’autres approches tels que le sol-gel ou le bombardement ionique. Une grande part de ses efforts est consacrée à l’étude des propriétés (électriques, optiques, mécaniques ou catalytiques) de ces nouveaux nanomatériaux dans le but de mieux comprendre les inter-relations nanostructure-propriété. Il se consacre aussi au développement de dispositifs avancés en micro/nano-électronique, en photonique et en nanotechnologie. Une grande partie des travaux de recherche du professeur El Khakani se déroule dans le cadre des consortiums structurants suivants :
- le Réseau Canadien de Centres d’Excellence en Micro-électronique (MICRONET);
- le réseau inter-universitaire « Nano-Québec» du MRST;
- le regroupement stratégique «Plasma-Québec » du NATEQ.

Le professeur My Ali El Khakani est professeur au Centre Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications de l’INRS depuis 1998.
